REACTORPANEL: Fitting Seminars

In the past, saddle fitting seemed to be a mysterious art, requiring special skills that were beyond the reach of just about all riders, and even most trainers and vets. Now there are measurement tools that help define the shape of the horse and fitting tools that verify saddle fit. The combination of classic fitting techniques with real data is the best way to ensure that your saddle fits your horse.

Working with veterinarians and saddle experts in the US, Canada and England, we have gathered information on fit that is critical to horse and rider comfort. We offer this very accessible information in a one-day educational seminar.

The classic seminar is a 2.5-hour program that combines classroom and hands-on practical sessions. The format can be adjusted to a shorter time frame in a classroom-only setting, or can be stretched into a full day of workshops and individual assessments.

In the seminar, attendees will:
• Learn how conformation affects saddle fit
• Discover ways to tell if a saddle fits – or doesn’t
• See the latest in tools for measuring horses and assessing saddle fit
• Explore common myths in saddle fit
• Identify common fitting problems
• Understand how the rider’s skeletal structure, body type, and flexibility affect fit for the rider
• Gain information about how a properly fitted saddle increases rider comfort and equine freedom of movement.

Our educational seminar has been taught to university equine studies classes, dressage GMOs, clubs and informal barn groups. It has even been used as a fundraiser.
